Using Siri to perform tasks on your Google Home device was never possible until Apple released Siri Shortcuts in iOS 12. Actually, it wasn't possible until Google added support for Siri Shortcuts for Google Assistant in Nov. 2018. No matter the timing, the important thing here is that you can use Siri to command Google Assistant which, in turn, can command Google Home.Normally, when you want to do something on your Google Home in another room, such as playing music or broadcasting a message to others in your home, you'd do so with commands in the Google Assistant app for iPhone. But with Siri Shortcuts support, you can simply say "Hey Siri, play music" or Hey Siri, do your chores," and Siri will relay that to Google Assistant which will tell it to Google Home.Don't Miss: Use Siri to Play Spotify Music & Start Playlists on Your iPhone As you can imagine, the possibilities are endless, and it's not just about Google Home either. You can just tell Siri to perform actions on Google Assistant period. For instance, you can control smart devices such as smart light bulbs or smart thermostats that only have Google Assistant support (not all smart devices support HomeKit, after all).

Step 1: Install or Update Google AssistantYou'll just need the Google Assistant app for this, so install it or update it if it's already on your iPhone. It's also worth installing the Google Home app too — you won't necessarily need it, but it's good for seeing everything associated with your Google Home.Google Assistant requires iOS 10.0 or later. After it's done installing, make sure to sign into the app using your Google account that's connected to your Google Home devices. Step 2: Add the 'Ok Google' Siri ShortcutOnce logged into the Google Assistant app, tap on the visual snapshot button in the bottom right, then add "Ok Google" to Siri. The prompt will be front and center, just tap on the "Add to Siri" button. If it's not there, it's likely you already enabled the "Ok Google" Siri Shortcut.Right away, it'll give you a prompt to record your "Hey Google" Siri phrase. Either press the big red record button or "Type Phrase" (if Type to Siri is enabled). Next, record or type out the Siri phrase you want to use, such as "Ok Google," the typical and suggested phrase.When recording your voice, if you aren't satisfied with it or it didn't hear you correctly, you can "Re-Record" your phrase. Tap "Done" in the top right to finish. Now, whenever you speak or type to Siri "Ok Google," or whatever phrase you ended up choosing, the Google Assistant app on your iPhone will open up with further dictation ready and waiting for you.

Step 3: Give Google Assistant App CommandsTo make Siri do all your Google Assistant deeds, you'll need to first tell those commands to Google Assistant so that they will show up as Siri Suggestions you can activate.You can use your new "Ok Google" shortcut to open Google Assistant with the mic ready, or you can open the app up manually and tap on the mic icon at the bottom. Next, just give it a command, such as "Show me the latest headlines."If your end goal is to use Siri to perform actions on your Google Home via the Google Assistant, you can say something like "Play Spotify Discover Weekly playlist on Google Home," if you'd like to listen to a specific playlist on Spotify on your Home speaker. If you have more than one Google Home speaker, make sure to give the speaker's specific name, or it won't know which speaker you're referring to.You could also broadcast a specific message from Siri to your Google Home so that it plays on all Home speakers connected to the same Google account. For instance, if you find yourself screaming "Dinner is ready" to someone upstairs, you could instead tell Google Assistant to "Broadcast dinner is ready."Continue giving Google Assistant commands that you normally give it, whether for interaction directly in the Google Assistant app or for sending commands to a Google Home device. Step 4: Add the Commands as Siri ShortcutsNow that Siri has an idea of the commands you're giving Google Assistant, it'll recommend them as Siri Shortcuts for Google Assistant. To find the suggestions, open up the Settings app, tap "Assistant," then "Siri & Search."Here, make sure "Siri & Suggestions" is toggled on. It's not technically needed, so you could un-toggle it, but then you'd need to at least make sure "Show App" is toggled on. Otherwise, you will not see any of Siri's suggestions.Next, tap on "Shortcuts" at the bottom, and you'll see a list of your current My Assistant Shortcuts up top (like the "Ok Google" one) and suggested ones under Recent Shortcuts for the ones you used in Step 3.Tap on the shortcut you want to add, and it'll prompt you to record or type a phrase for Siri to deliver the action. As an example, for "Play Spotify Discover Weekly playlist on Google Home," you can use a phrase that's shorter, like "Play discover weekly." For "Broadcast dinner is ready," you can simply say "Dinner is ready." You can also view suggested Siri Shortcuts for Google Assistant directly from "Siri & Search" within the Settings app. Recent ones will appear right away under Suggested Shortcuts, and you can tap "All Shortcuts" to view the rest for Assistant and other apps. Additionally, you can also access Google Assistant's Siri & Search settings from the "Siri & Search" page (just scroll down and select "Assistant").All the Siri Shortcuts you add will automatically be displayed at the very top of the Assistant Shortcuts page as well as in "My Shortcuts" in the main "Siri & Search" settings.

Step 5: Tell Siri to Do Your Assistant TasksThe last step of the process is to make Siri do all your Google Assistant or Google Home deeds. Invoke "Hey Siri" or hold the Side button on iPhones with Face ID or the Home button if your iPhone has one of those. Then, speaker your Siri Shortcut phrase (or type it if you see the Type to Siri screen).For example, if I say "Play discover weekly," Siri will send that to Google Assistant which will then send that to the Google Home speaker I set in Step 3. If I say "Dinner is ready," it will do the same thing, but this time broadcast "Dinner is ready" to all of the Google Home speakers connected to the same Google account. It's that simple. Dubbed #beautygate, Apple's software would smooth out the details in a self-portrait, making the skin look like it had a "beauty" filter applied. The new Smart HDR feature was at fault here, according to The Verge, which was choosing a blurrier base image as the lead image when combing exposures. Most newer TVs are now equipped with a 4K display, and even some smartphones are adopting the very same technology.4K has four times the pixel count of the standard Full HD 1080p, which means everything will look much sharper, especially evident with video content. It makes sense that newer phones can record in 4K, making it more ideal for use in today's society of entertainment. Since 4K has finally started to become more common in households, you'll want to take advantage of those extra pixels when recording videos on your smartphone.To get started with 4K video recording, head into the "Video" section of the OnePlus camera app, then tap the current video resolution in the upper-left corner. Select "4K," then the next time you record a video, it will be in a much higher quality than it was previously. If your smartphone is new enough and has the hardware to do so, you can now pair 4K video recording with 60 fps for maximum quality and performance. However, there are a few things to note while using this feature. For starters, you'll only be able to record a consistent five minutes of video in most cases, because the file size for an extremely high-quality video will be massive.Pushing that kind of power on your smartphone's internal hardware will make it work much harder, so heat on those components will rise. All the extra workload from recording such high-quality videos in real time will take a hit on battery life as well. Keeping that in mind, it's usually best to use 4K 60 fps to record your absolute best moments to maintain maximum visual performance until hardware advancements allow us to go beyond the current physical limitations.

Tip 4: Manually Adjust the Scene BrightnessFor the most part, the light in the scene being picked up by your camera does what it needs to do without having to touch manual controls. However, perhaps you wanted to lighten or darken a particular scene without having to make adjustments to your room lighting. Alternatively, maybe you prefer to alter the brightness level to meet a particular effect or to highlight your focal point better.Either way, you can easily adjust the brightness of the scene by tapping where you want to make adjustments while recording a video from within the OnePlus camera app. Once you tap the location you want to alter, you'll see a brightness adjustment slider pop up to where to you can tweak the setting as you see fit. Sliding the bar up increases the level of brightness while dragging it down decreases it. (1) The brightness slider for the scene is all the way up. Tip 5: Use Slow Motion for Cool EffectsCatching cool moments on video using slow motion is not something you'll be doing every single day, but you should go for it whenever you have the chance. Depending on which OnePlus smartphone you have, you'll see different options while using the slow motion feature from within the OnePlus camera app.The most common frame rates for 720p slow motion video shots one the OnePlus phones will be 120, 240, or even 480 fps. Likewise, the standard frame rate you'll find for 1080p slow motion is 120 or 240 fps. When it comes to slow motion video capture, the higher the frame rate, the slower you'll be able to capture whatever is in your scene.To get started with slow motion video recording, head into the "Slow motion" section of the OnePlus camera by swiping up on the main screen. In the upper left-hand corner, you can select the resolution and the frame rate options as needed. You should also note that the higher the resolution, the lower the frame rate you'll be able to shoot. This ultimately means the lower resolutions will always be able to capture better slow motion video, but at a reduced level of clarity when compared to higher resolutions. You could be browsing the web, playing a game, or chatting on social media. It doesn't matter, you'll get interrupted. But you don't have to put up with it anymore.If you have a jailbroken iPhone, there's a tweak that you can purchase right now to get rid of screen takeovers from calls once and for all. It's called CallBar X, created by Elias Limneos, and it adds a simple call bar interface to iOS that takes up less a fifth of your iPhone's screen space, allowing you to multitask during incoming calls. The bar is a less intrusive and distracting experience, and it lets you easily pick up where you left off once you answer or hide the call.Don't Miss: How to Jailbreak iOS 11 on Your iPhone — No Computer Required Full-screen takeover before the tweak (left) and small bar after (right). While CallBar X costs $3.99, its features go a long way towards enhancing your iPhone experience, which far outweighs its price. The tweak will now be installed onto your iPhone, so wait a few moments for the process to complete. Afterward, hit "Restart SpringBoard" to respring your iPhone and finish installing CallBar X.

Step 2: Purchase CallBar XAfter respringing, you'll instantly receive a toast notification on your home screen asking you to activate your CallBar X license, so hit "OK," and open the Settings app. Once inside, scroll down and select "CallBar X" to get into its preferences. You'll now need to purchase a CallBar X license to enable the feature. Tap on "Buy CallBar X" to proceed with the purchase. Once done, you'll automatically be transferred to a PayPal page, so enter your login credentials and follow the prompts to pay for the license.After successful payment has been made, you'll be taken to a page showing your payment details, along with your unique Transaction ID. This ID is very important, as you'll need it for future verification in the event that you need to reinstall the tweak for any reason, so save a copy of this page by taking a screenshot of it on your iPhone to store it in your Photos app. Please note that previous versions of CallBar that were purchased within Cydia itself cannot be applied to CallBar X, so you'll have to buy a new license entirely to use the tweak. Step 3: Enable CallBar XAfter completing payment, you'll now be able to access the CallBar X in full, so access it's settings as highlighted in the second step, and tap on the toggle next to "Enable" to turn the tweak on. From there, you'll be greeted with a slew of features that you can enable, ranging from setting the call bar on the top or bottom of the screen to using the tweak for FaceTime calls — and so much more. In addition to those settings, CallBar X lets you set a custom theme for a more personalized look by tapping on "Global View Style." Besides the default Dark theme, the tweak lets you choose between "Light," "Concept X (Curved)" and "Concept X (Flat)" themes.Just bear in mind that while you can freely set both the light and dark themes to appear along the top and bottom of the screen, the two Concept X themes can only be set along the bottom. CallBar X also gives you options to instantly access your call bar tweak by performing various gestures on your iPhone's status bar. To do so, hit "Activation Methods" from the tweak's Settings page, and tap on any or all three toggles to give you the ability to open CallBar X either by double-tapping or swiping left or right on the status bar. Regardless of what options you've set, CallBar X instantly applies them without the need to respring your device, so you can try each setting on the fly and fine-tune it until the tweak works exactly how you want it to.

Step 4: Enjoy CallBar XWith CallBar X enabled and set according to your preferences, any incoming and outgoing (if enabled) phone calls will appear as a small, unobtrusive call bar that you can tap on to further expand for more options, such as enabling the speaker function or pulling up the dial pad. If you get an incoming call while you're doing something important, swipe up on the bar to hide it, which will turn your status bar green indicating a call is still trying to get through to you. You can tap that bar to bring up the call bar again. Also, if you're playing a game or watching something in landscape mode, note that the call bar is locked into portrait mode, so it'll be sideways if you're in landscape orientation. The tweak functions much in the same way for FaceTime Audio and Video, with the latter featuring added windows on both sides to show videos of you and your contact. And if the video call is too small, perform a double-tap on the call bar to enable full-screen mode to see your contact more clearly. PrerequisitesBefore you start the jailbreak process on your iPhone 5 (and other devices), you'll need to backup your SHSH blobs for your iOS 6. It's important to save these files because then you'll be able to downgrade back to iOS 6.1 if newer firmware is released or an error happens during the jailbreak process.If you don't save the SHSH blobs, there will be no way to get back to your original firmware.To backup your SHSH blobs:Download TinyUmbrella and run the app. Connect your device and then select it from the upper left-hand corner of TinyUmbrella. Click on the Advanced tab and uncheck the following: Save ALL Available SHSH and Request SHSH From Cydia. Click on Save SHSH and your blob should be saved onto your computer.
